    TCU Drops Spring Opener

STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- TCU volleyball dropped its spring season opener to Tarleton on Thursday night, 3-1, inside the Wisdom Volleyball Gym in Stephenville, Texas. The Horned Frogs led in every set, but ultimately came up short, on the road.

    · Dennison led the team with 16 digs tonight, extending her career total to 1,237.
    · She now owns the fourth most digs in program history, passing Sutton Sunstrum (2012-15).
    · Dennison is just 10 digs shy of tying Meghan Horio for third-most by a Horned Frog.
    · Julia Adams led the team with 18 kills. It was the fourth time this season Adams has delivered at least 18 kills and the fifth such match in her career.
    · Adams tied her career high with seven digs.
    · MyKayla Myers set a new career-high with a .526 hitting percentage on 13 kills.
    · She has now earned double-digit kills in three of her last four matches, dating back to the fall.
    · Myers has posted a hitting percentage over .300 in seven of her last eight matches.
    · Katie Clark was the third Horned Frog to reach double-digits, finishing with 10 kills.
    · She has now earned 10 or more kills in six of her eight matches this season.
    · McKenzie Nichols led the team with 44 assists, her 15th career 40+ assist performance.
    · Afedo Manyang added five kills. She now has 100 kills this season.

Set 1 (TCU, 25-22): The Horned Frogs started the spring with a strong presence at the net, collecting an early block from Clark and Nalls to put the Frogs in front, 5-1, early. TCU attacked the middle of the court throughout the set, maintaining its lead and eventually winning the set, 25-22. Nichols had a tremendous set distributing the ball, getting the hitters involved early resulting in four Horned Frogs collecting three or more kills. Myers led the team with four kills on six swings. Clark, Audrey Nalls and Adams each posted three kills as well.

Set 2 (TAR, 26-24): TCU battled to a 24-22 lead thanks to seven kills from Adams but Tarleton managed to go on a 4-0 run to end the set and tie the match. Adams was balanced in her attack, using a variety of tips and hard, down-line swings to pace the Frog attack.

Set 3 (TAR, 25-20): The Frogs took advantage of some early errors from the Texans to jump in front, 7-1. The lead held firm to 12-7, before a lengthy run from Tarleton reversed the score line to 14-20. A pair of kills from Adams helped TCU fight off two set points, but the Texans emerged with the set.

Set 4 (TAR, 25-20): Myers and Adams helped TCU take the early lead once more, 8-5. But Tarleton got the bounces it needed to go on another run and eventually take the set by five points.
