GoFrogs: TCU Wraps Up Day One in Waco

WACO, Texas – TCU wrapped up the first day of the Big 12 Outdoor Championships on Thursday night at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium

Gracie Morris clocked the fastest time in the 1500m prelims with her time of 4:14.18 to advance to Saturday's finals.

Joining her on Saturday will be Iyana Gray. She ran a 23.13 (2.1w) to win her heat and automatically qualify for the 200m finals.

Jayden Douglas' personal-best time of 51.67 in the 400m hurdles earned him eighth as he advanced to Saturday's finals. On the women's side, Amelliah Birdow (57.25) and Tia Williams (59.25) also earned her a spot in the finals as they both won their heats. Birdow's 57.25 is also the new program record.

Joel McFarlane had a stellar first day in the decathlon, ending the day leading the field with 3,979 points. He kicked off the day with a fourth-place finish in the 100m (10.95). His personal-best throw of 13.87m won him the shot put and his personal-best time of 47.96 in the 400m puts him in first after the opening day of competition.

Elise Dobson finished 13th after the first day of the heptathlon, highlighted by her personal-best time of 25.91 in the 200m. She has 3,075 points after Day One.

Tabitha Kalunde Ngao ran a personal-best time of 4:21.12 to finish 10th overall, just missing the 1500m finals. Kashie Crockett's time of 21.00 earned him 10th as well in the 200m.

Due to a weather delay, the women's javelin will now be held Friday morning at 9:15 a.m.
