FORT WORTH - The TCU baseball team guaranteed a series victory with a 5-1 win over Dartmouth Saturday afternoon. Boomer White led the Horned Frogs with two doubles and two RBIs.

Preston Morrison (2-2) went eight innings for the third time this season. He allowed a run on eight, walked one and struck out a season-high eight batters. Travis Evans closed out the game, allowing a hit and striking out a batter in a scoreless ninth.

The Frogs scored a run in each of the first four innings to open up a comfortable 4-0 lead. A wild start to the game from Big Green starter Michael Danielak helped TCU take the early lead with just one hit. He issued three walks in the frame, but avoided disaster with a pick-off. White didn't let him wriggle off the hook as he doubled to the gap in right with two outs to drive in Dylan Fitzgerald. A good relay from the outfield to home plate cut down what would have been the second run of the inning.

Garrett Crain led off the second inning with a triple to right center. TCU wasted no time driving in the run as Connor Castellano grounded out to second to give the Frogs a 2-0 lead.

Another lead-off batter reached in the third to help the Frogs increase its lead to three. Kevin Cron was hit by the pitch and moved to second on a Derek Odell sacrifice. White followed with his second double of the afternoon to drive in Cron, giving TCU a 3-0 lead.

The Frogs got the lead-off batter on for the fourth inning in a row and pushed across another run. Kyle Bacak drew a walk to open the frame and moved to second on a balk. Cody Jones lined a triple into right field to drive in Bacak for a 4-0 lead. The Big Green kept the deficit manageable as they turned a double play on a potential sacrifice fly to end the inning.

While the offense pushed across runs, Morrison quietly went about his business. After allowing a lead-off bunt single, the junior retired 11 straight before giving up a pair of two-out base hits in the fourth. Morrison took care of the jam himself, picking off Nick Lombardi to end the inning.

Dartmouth threatened again in the seventh with two on and one out. Morrison induced an infield fly then got Matt MacDowell to ground out to end the frame with TCU holding a 4-0 lead.

The Frogs pushed their lead to five in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of yet another lead-off batter reaching. Keaton Jones opened the inning with a base hit to right and was standing on second after a Cody Jones sacrifice. Cron came through with a two-out single through the right side to drive in the fifth run of the afternoon.

Dartmouth picked up its lone run of the game with a pair of hits in the eighth inning. Thomas Roulis singled with one out and scored on a long double off the bat of Jeff Keller to account for the final score.

The victory improves TCU to 11-7 overall. The Frogs will go for the sweep Sunday afternoon at 1. Tyler Alexander will make his fifth start of the season in a game that is slated to be televised by FSSW+.

Comments on Schlos calling out the team's effort and "want too" in the paper today after the win?

I'm in my 3rd year of season tickets, and have been clueless on the hitting woes, but I do understand baseball, slumps and coaching issues, which have been addressed.

Lack of effort, malaise or entitlement is a real surprise, and I'm not sure I understand. It's very contra to my preferred narrative about this team.

What's going on??
