TCU Scratches Out 4-3 Road Win
TCU rallies with two-run seventh
Final Stats |  Notes

ABILENE, Texas - No. 2 TCU used a two-run seventh to register a come-from-behind 4-3 victory at Abilene Christian Monday night. Cody Jones drives in game-winning run and goes 2-for-4 at the plate.

The bullpen was outstanding as it held Abilene Christian in check for six innings. Brian Trieglaff (1-0) fanned five, walked one and allowed three hits in three innings of work to earn the win in relief. Travis Evans and Preston Guillory each worked 1-2-3 innings in the seventh and eighth, respectively. Riley Ferrell set the side down in order in the ninth to register his ninth save of the season.

TCU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first. Cody Jones led off the inning with an infield single and was standing on third with one out after a failed pick-off attempt. Derek Odell lined a double just inside the third base line to put the Frogs in front 1-0. After an Evan Skoug single and a passed ball, Keaton Jones hit a sacrifice fly to push the lead to two.

The Wildcats rallied back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Three straight one-out hits made it a 2-1 contests. With runners on the corners, another failed pick-off attempt sailed into foul territory to tie the game at two.

A lead-off double by Tyler Eager in the third came back to haunt the Frogs as he came around to score on a two-out base hit from Russell Crippen to make it a 3-2 game in favor of Abilene Christian.

Abilene Christian threatened to add to its lead as it loaded the bases on two hits and a walk with one out in the sixth. Trieglaff wiggled off the hook as he got Aaron Draper to ground into an inning-ending 6-3 double play.

TCU translated the momentum into a seventh-inning rally as it scored two runs on three hits to take a 4-3 lead. Garrett Crain started the rally with a one-out base hit. Jeremie Fagnan followed with a base knock, moving Crain to third. Zack Plunkett executed a safety squeeze down the first base line and Crain scored easily to tie the game. Cody Jones legged out an infield single and head's up base running by Fagnan gave the Frogs the lead as he took off from second and never stopped running.

Brian Howard started and went three innings in the no-decision. He allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, walked one and struck out four.

TCU improves to 24-6 overall with Monday's victory. The Horned Frogs will make a brief stop at home to host #16 Dallas Baptist Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Tyler Alexander will make the start for the Horned Frogs.
