FORT WORTH, Texas - Fresh off a road-win at Colorado State, TCU will look for its fifth-straight victory Saturday afternoon when it takes on BYU in a pivotal conference matchup between the top-two teams in the Mountain West Conference. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. CT from the Cougars' Marriott Center and will be shown nationally on BYU-TV.

The Horned Frogs come into Saturday's outing with an 18-8 overall record and 10-2 mark in the MWC. On Wednesday, TCU overcame a six-point halftime deficit to claim a 61-53 victory over CSU at the Rams' Moby Arena.

Overall, the contest, which allowed the Horned Frogs to stay within one game of BYU in the conference standings and sweep the season-series with the Rams, featured six ties and four lead changes.

In the first meeting this season, TCU claimed a 54-51 victory over the Cougars at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

The Last Time Out
Helena Sverrisdottir and Starr Crawford both scored 18 points Wednesday night in rallying TCU to a 61-53 victory over Colorado State at the Rams' Moby Arena.

Sverrisdottir netted 18 points, including 15 in the second half, on 5-of-8 shooting, while Crawford connected on 18 points on 9-of-14 from the floor. Senior Emily Carter was the only other Frog in double-figures with 13 points, including two key free throws down the stretch to seal the Frogs' fourth-straight victory.

The Frogs, who overcame a six-point halftime deficit and forced Colorado State into 20 turnovers, ended the contest with 13 offensive rebounds, which resulted in a 20-6 second-chance advantage for TCU. The Frogs also scored 16 points off turnovers Wednesday night, while controlling points in the paint, 26-14.

Game No. 1 Versus BYU
In a physical back-and-fourth contest, TCU escaped with a 54-51 decision over BYU earlier this season at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Overall, the Horned Frogs, who trailed by two at the halftime break, was helpd in the first meeting by its bench. When it was all said and done, TCU outscored the Cougars off the bench, 15-6/

Helena Sverrisdottir led the Frogs with 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-7 from deep. The senior did most her damage after halftime, scoring nine second half points on 3-of-5 shooting. Fellow senior Emily Carter was the only other Frog in double figures with 15 points. Starr Crawford also had a solid game with eight points and 10 boards.

With time running down, BYU had a chance to tie the game at 54-54 in the closing seconds, but their three as time expired rattled out to preserve the TCU victory.

The BYU Series
TCU and BYU will be meeting for the 18th time in program history Saturday. The Horned Frogs have won three out of the last four meetings and six out the last eight meetings against the Cougars. BYU leads the series, 9-8.

Earlier this year, the Frogs won by three against the Cougars, 61-53.

The two teams split action last season with TCU claiming a 64-40 victory in Fort Worth before falling 70-65 in Provo. At the Marriott Center, TCU trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half before rallying, but BYU was able to hold the Frogs at bay late to claim a 70-65 victory at the Marriott Center.

Scouting BYU
BYU, who is 18-7 overall and 10-1 in the MWC, comes into Saturday receiving votes in the Associated Press Poll. The Cougars are currently in first-place in the MWC standings.

BYU, who will be playing with a heavy heart as sophomore forward Alexis Kaufusi was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, has won seven-straight and topped in-state rival Utah last Saturday, 61-58.

Mindy Bonham has led the Cougar offense this season, averaging 12. 3 points and over five assists, while Coriann Fraughton has also been productive, scoring 11.4 points and 7.2 boards.

Taking Care Of The Rock
Senior Helena Sverrisdottir has been steady with the ball in her hands during the Frogs' current four-game winning streak. Not only has she only had two turnovers, but the Iceland native has also tallied 18 assists. She has also scored in double figures all four contests, including an 18-point performance in her last outing against Colorado State Wednesday night.

February Frenzy
TCU is currently on a four-game winning streak and if recent trends hold true, the Horned Frogs should have a successful February as TCU has only lost four times during the month since 2007-08.

Overall, the Horned Frogs, who will take a current 4-0 February record into Saturday's contest, have closed the season strong during the month of February, combining to go 22-4 since 2007-08. Last season alone, the Frogs only lost one contest during the month, recording a 6-1 record, including opening the month on a four-game winning streak.

In two of the last four years, the Horned Frogs have gone on a six-game winning streak during the month.

Crawford Honored By Mountain West Conference
Sophomore Starr Crawford was named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week Monday. It is the first MWC weekly honor for Crawford and the second of her career. For the week, Crawford averaged 17.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.

Streaky Shooting Usually Delivers Victory
During two of its last four outings, the Frogs have had at least one individual go perfect from the field. During those two contests, Helena Sverrisdottir (6-of-6) and Delisa Gross (7-of-7) were simply unstoppable. Overall, TCU has had at least one individual shoot 100 percent in 12 games this season. During that time, the Frogs are 9-3 overall.

Scoring In The Paint Important For TCU Success
In its last outing against CSU, the Frogs outscored the Rams in the paint, 26-12, which marked the fourth-straight game in which TCU has dominated down low. During conference play, TCU has outscored its opponent down low in nine of the 12 contests.

The three games in which the Frogs were either tied with or outscored by their opponent in the paint were BYU (14-30), New Mexico (18-24) and Air Force (24-24). TCU's record during those contests, 1-2, with BYU being the lone victory.

Dominating Defense
For the season, TCU has held six different opponents under 50 points. Upon further review, five out of the first eight MWC schools scored less then 50 points against TCU.

Mountain West Conference Success
During the last six seasons, the Frogs own a 69-23 all-time league record in the MWC and are the only team to record at least 11 wins in each of the past five seasons.

Horned Frogs Sizzle With Starr
Since returning the Horned Frog lineup against Georgia, Starr Crawford has made her presence felt. The sophomore and preseason All-America candidate by Sporting News has posted double-digit scoring games in 11 out of the 15 contests, which has led TCU an 12-3 record. The Frogs have also out-rebounded their opponent during that stretch in four games with Crawford leading the way in boards during 12 of those contests.

• Crawford is second in the MWC during conference play in steals (2.3).


Horned Frogs Continue To Impress In NCAA
Entering Saturday, the Frogs have done quite nicely among the nation's best. TCU ranks No. 31 nationally in free-throw percentage (.743), No. 55 in scoring margin (9.0), No. 77 in scoring defense (58.3), No. 34 in Field Goal Percentage Defense (.359), No. 61 in Won-Lost Percentage (69.2), No. 58 in personal fouls per game (15.4), No. 50 in three-point field goal defense (.288), No. 53 in turnover margin (2.96), No. 55 in assist turnover ratio (0.89) and No. 26 in Turnovers Per Game (14.8).

Overall, the Frogs rank in the top 100 nationally in 10 different categories.

Individually, Emily Carter paces the Frogs', ranking No. 47 overall in scoring average with a 17.6 average. Fellow senior Helena Sverrisdottir is No. 117 in the nation in assists per game (4.1) and No. 92 in assist turnover ratio (1.51). Carter also sits No. 12 in free throw percentage (.895) and in the top-120 in 3-point field goals per game (2.2) and percentage (.339). Finally, sophomore Starr Crawford moved into No. 45 in rebounds per game (9.4).

TCU In The Mountain West Conference
26 games into the season, the Horned Frogs sit No. 1 in free throw percentage (.743). The Frogs also rank in the top-2 in scoring offense (67.3), field goal percentage defense (.359) and turnover margin (+2.96).

Individually, Emily Carter sits No. 2 in the conference in scoring average (17.6), while also ranking No. 1 in free throw percentage (.895). Helena Sverrisdottir currently sits No. 5 in scoring (15.2) in the conference. She also ranks No. 2 in steals (2.1) entering Saturday. Finally, sophomore Starr Crawford ranks No. 1 in rebounding (9.4) and offensive rebounds (3.6). She also sits No. 2 in defensive rebounds (5.8) heading into action Saturday.

In conference only games, the Frogs rank No. 1 in scoring offense (53.2), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.271) and turnover margin (+5.08). Carter sits No. 4 in scoring (14.1) and No. 1 in free throw percentage (.891), while Crawford rounds out the top-10 in scoring(13.1). The sophomore also ranks No. 1 in rebounding and offensive rebounds (4.0). The Frogs have also cleaned up in the steals department with Sverrisdottir (2.6) and Crawford (2.1) claiming the top-two spots.
