GoFrogs: TCU Rally Falls Short at Iowa State
AMES, Iowa Desmond Bane's fifth career double-double led a valiant comeback effort by the short-handed TCU men's basketball team which fell short in a 65-59 loss at Iowa State on Tuesday at Hilton Coliseum.

Playing without guards RJ Nembhard (groin) and Francisco Farabello (head), Bane scored a game-high 22 points. 17 of Bane's 22 points came in the second half as TCU (15-13, 6-9) rallied after trailing by 18 points. Bane tied his career-high with 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.

Both teams traded leads in the early minutes, but a 9-0 run by the Cyclones (12-16, 5-10) over the middle of the first half propelled Iowa State to a 25-14 advantage. During the run, TCU was scoreless for over six minutes. Iowa State ended the half scoring eight unanswered points to expand its lead to 41-25 at the break.

The Cyclones took their largest lead of the game, 43-25, with 19:30 remaining in the second half, but TCU responded with a 19-6 run to cut the deficit to 49-43 on one of three Bane 3-pointers, with 13:33 left. TCU continued to cut into the deficit and came all the way back to take a 55-53 lead with 5:20 remaining after a pair of PJ Fuller free throws.

Bane tied the game 59-59 with 53 seconds to play. From there, TCU missed its last three shots and Iowa State made six-straight free throws.
