GoFrogs: TCU Puts Two on Ann Meyers-Drysdale National Player of the Year Watch List

FORT WORTH – Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince are now officially in contention for two national player of the year honors.

Van Lith and Prince were two of 50 players chosen to the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year midseason watch list on Monday by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).

They were first tabbed to the John R. Wooden Award midseason top 25 watch list on Jan. 7.

Van Lith and Prince's selections make TCU one of seven teams in America with multiple players in consideration for the accolade alongside LSU, NC State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas and UConn.

Both players first received national recognition from the USBWA in December. Van Lith and Prince were tabbed Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week on Dec. 3 following the Horned Frogs' victories over No. 3 Notre Dame and South Florida at the Cayman Islands Classic.

Van Lith and Prince are two of six Big 12 players on the midseason watch list. The others are Audi Crooks (Iowa State), Stailee Heard (Oklahoma State), Gianna Kneepkens (Utah) and JJ Quinerly (West Virginia).

Together, they are the third-highest scoring tandem in America, averaging a combined 37.1 points per game.

Van Lith is averaging 18.7 points, six assists and 4.5 rebounds per game ahead of ninth-ranked TCU's tilt vs. No. 12 Kansas State on Wednesday. She ranks in the top 15 nationally in assists (7th, 135) and assists per game (13th, 6.0) and is one of two Big 12 players averaging at least 18 points and 4.5 assists per game.

Prince continues to lead the nation in blocks (72, 3.3 bpg) and scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive games from Jan. 4-26. The 6-7 center has scored 20-plus points in 11 of her 15 career Big 12 games and in seven of 10 this season.
