GoFrogs: TCU Opens Homestand With Victory
MINNEAPOLIS – TCU opened a five-game homestand with a 12-3 victory over Stephen F. Austin Wednesday night at Lupton Stadium. Seven Horned Frogs tallied an RBI in the game, led by two each from Hunter Wolfe and Zach Humphreys.

The Rundown
The Frogs loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batter in the first. A wild pitch brought home the first run of the game. Hunter Wolfe reached on an infield single to drive in the second run. A throwing error allowed the third run of the inning to score. Kurtis Bryne singled in a run to make it 4-0 after one

SFA took advantage of a two-out error to pick up a pair of unearned runs in the third inning.

The Frogs answered with three in the bottom of the inning. Conner Shepherd drove in the first run of the frame. Phillip Sikes reached on a fielder's choice to drive in another run and Byrne scored on a throwing error. RBI singles from Austin Henry and Wolfe in the sixth pushed the TCU advantage to seven, 9-2.

In the seventh, SFA threatened with a run in and two in scoring position. Haylen Green came on and struck out the final two of the inning to minimize the damage.

TCU put the game well out of reach in the eighth with three more runs. Gray Rodgers doubled home one run and Zach Humphreys followed with a two-run double.

Riley Cornelio started for the Frogs. He allowed two unearned runs on one hit with three walks and two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. Drew Hill (2-0) picked up the win in relief. He surrendered one hit, walked one and struck out two in 2 1/3. Austin Krob struck out all three batters he faced. Haylen Green retired all five batters he faced, while Matt Rudis closed out the game, retiring all three he faced.

Stat of the Game:
11 – The TCU pitching staff combined to strike out 11 batters in the game. It's the fourth time this season the staff has tallied double-digit strikeouts.

• TCU is 7-1 to start a season for the fifth time under the guidance of head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
• TCU scored double-digit runs and collected double-digit hits for the fifth time this season.
• TCU stole multiple bases in a game for the fifth time this season.
Kurtis Byrne collected his first career hit and RBI in the game.
Phillip Sikes tallied his first outfield assist of the season.
Austin Krob recorded a trio of strikeouts in his lone inning of work.
Porter Brown extended his hitting streak to five games.
Gene Wood tallied his third multi-hit game of the season and the 10th of his career.
Hunter Wolfe stretched his hitting streak to seven games.
• Wolfe collected his fourth multi-RBI game of the year and the 11th of his career.
• Wolfe tallied his third multi-hit game of the season and the 16th of his career.
Gray Rodgers notched his fourth career multi-hit game.
Zach Humphreys collected his second multi-RBI game of the year and the 22nd of his career.
Conner Shepherd notched his third multi-hit game of the year and the 28th of his career.
Gray Rodgers, Porter Brown and Hunter Wolfe have reached base safely in all eight games.

Next Up:
With the victory, TCU improved to 7-1 on the season. The Horned Frogs will open up a three-game series against Cal on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on FSSW+.
