LAST TIME OUT A cold-shooting second half hurt the TCU men’s basketball team in a 70-56 loss at Texas Wednesday at Frank Erwin Center. The Frogs shot 24.1 percent in the second half and went 0-of-10 from 3-point range. Desmond Bane finished with a team-high 13 points, all in the first half, and grabbed nine rebounds. Kevin Samuel had 11 points and 12 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season. ABOUT THE OPPONENT West Virginia is 19-7 overall and 7-6 in the Big 12 following a 65-47 win over Oklahoma State Tuesday. The Mountaineers are led in scoring and rebounding by freshman forward Oscar Tshiebwe’s 11.4 points and 9.4 rebounds. One of the best defensive teams in the country, WVU ranks second nationally in 3-point defense (27.7%), fifth in rebounding margin (+8.7), sixth in rebounding average (41.0) and eighth in field goal percentage defense (37.8%). SERIES HISTORY West Virginia leads the all-time series 14-2. TCU’s two wins in the series have come in the last two meetings in Fort Worth. The first was an 82-73 win over the No. 7-ranked Mountaineers on Jan. 22, 2018 and the last was 98-67 on Jan. 15, 2019. The first meeting of the season went to WVU, 81-49, on Jan. 14.
