GoFrogs: TCU Falters In Midweek Loss
FORT WORTH – TCU closed out its homestand with a 9-6 loss to Lamar Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Luke Boyers tallied a career-high four hits in the loss.

The Rundown
TCU found itself in an early 1-0 hole after a pair of first inning errors led to the first run of the game. Five more runs crossed in the second as the Cardinals opened up a 6-0 lead.

A two out base hit from Luke Boyers in the third got the Frogs offense started. Two walks loaded the bases. An error allowed the first run of the game to score. A wild pitch followed as the Horned Frogs pulled to within four, 6-2.

Three more runs crossed the plate for the Frogs in the fourth. Austin Davis opened the inning with a double and scored on a David Bishop base hit. Tre Richardson worked a bases loaded walk and Brayden Taylor hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 6-5 ballgame.

Lamar loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth and two came around to score as the Cardinal regained a multi-run lead, 8-5. A lead-off double turned into a ninth run for Lamar.

TCU picked up a run in the eighth but left the bases loaded. Lamar's closer worked out of a ninth inning jam to lock up the victory.

Braeden Sloan (2-3) took the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits. Mason Speaker was a bright spot in the bullpen retiring all seven batters he faced.

TCU left 11 runners on base in the loss.

Notes:
• TCU registered double-digit hits (11) for the 16th time this season.
Luke Savage made his first appearance since March 19.
Luke Boyers collected his 10th multi-hit game of the season and the 37th of his career.
Tre Richardson has reached safely in 10 straight games.
Austin Davis tallied his 11th multi-hit game of the year and the 55th of his career.
Elijah Nunez has reached safely in eight straight.

Next Up:
With the loss, TCU drops to 22-145 overall. The Horned Frogs will hit the road for a key Big 12 series at West Virginia. First pitch for Friday series opener is set for 5 p.m. (CT). The contest will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
