GoFrogs: TCU Drops Midweek Affair At ACU
ABILENE, Texas – TCU could not overcome a big first inning from Abilene Christian in an 8-3 loss Tuesday night at Crutcher Scott Field.

The Rundown
ACU struck for seven runs in the first as it sent 11 men to the plate. The Wildcats opened up a 4-0 lead before the first out was recorded. An error led to two unearned runs in the frame.

TCU cut into the deficit with two in the third. Jack Arther and Sam Myers singled to open the inning. A balk had both runners in scoring position for Anthony Silva, who delivered a base hit up the middle to drive in the runners.

The Frogs looked poised to get back in the game in the fifth as they loaded the bases with nobody out. Luke Boyers singled to make it a 7-3 game, but the Wildcats worked out of the jam without any further damage.

ACU got the run back, taking advantage of a lead-off double. An error in the inning allowed the run to score, pushing the Wildcats advantage to five, 8-3, accounting for the final score.

Braeden Sloan (3-3) started and didn't register an out in allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits and walked two in the loss.

The bullpen did a good job in limiting the Wildcats to just three runs (one earned) on seven hits. Zack Morris, Colt Taylor, Chase Hoover, Hunter Hodges and Jax Traeger combined to strike out nine batters while issuing just two walks.

We just need forego or spot the 1st inning to the opposing team. It’s 50/50 that the pitcher self destructs or throws balloons.
Not to do couch coaching but sometimes they need pulling asap.
Texas is next and please Frogs get your act together. We are behind you and still waiting. Go frogs .

I think a lot of our problems are because Bowen and Bryne are just not doing what they have done in the past. Yesterday you could tell after 2 hitters that Sloan did not have it again. To let him allow 5 runs before pulling his is not good.

but yet they continue to be placed in the lineup day in and day out. Last night would have been a great day to give one or both of them the night off in the field. And then start Leach behind the plate and somebody like Miranda at 1B.

we just don’t seem interested in making some adjustments that seem kinda obvious to me

Miranda needs to play first in midweek games just to see what he can do in the field and at the plate.
