GoFrogs: TCU Defeats Army in Maggie Dixon Classic

FORT WORTH, Texas – In its best defensive effort of the season, the TCU women's basketball team held Army without a field goal for over 11 minutes in the second half en route to a 62-38 victory in the Maggie Dixon Classic at Schollmaier Arena on Sunday.

The 38 points allowed were the fewest by a TCU opponent since the Horned Frogs defeated Sam Houston State, 81-37, on Nov. 15, 2016.

TCU also held the Black Knights to just 26.8 percent shooting, marking the second time this season it has held an opponent under 30 percent.

Senior Jordan Moore tied her season-high with 22 points, shooting 76.9 percent from the floor. She also flirted with her second consecutive double-double, hauling down a team-best eight rebounds.

THE RUNDOWN
After a tightly-contested opening quarter, TCU's defense stepped up in a big way, limiting Army to just four more points before halftime.

The Horned Frogs buckled down and did not allow a single field goal over the final 7:20 of the second quarter, going on a 12-0 run to head into the locker room with a 34-20 advantage.

That stellar defense carried over into the second half as TCU put together another lengthy stretch without allowing a bucket, going 11:02 this time between the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters. During that run, the Frogs outscored the Black Knights 20-2 to seal their sixth victory of the season.

STAT OF THE GAME
81.0 – Jordan Moore was 10-for-13 from the field (76.9 percent) and is now shooting 81.0 percent (34-of-42) in home games this season.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
TCU Head Coach Raegan Pebley
"I can't say enough about how special it is and how humbled we are to be entrusted to host this game, compete against a team like Army and to honor Maggie Dixon's legacy. We talked this past week about Maggie Dixon and what she meant to women's basketball, that team and me personally. I think our team really understood what that meant. I was so glad to see that we had a great crowd this afternoon. I know that the Heart Health Fair was something a lot of people spent a lot of time putting together, including our school of medicine here at TCU. I am very grateful for the work, effort and the result that we were able to have."

UP NEXT
TCU will continue its six-game, month-long homestand when Montana State makes the trip to Schollmaier Arena for a 1 p.m. contest on Sat., Dec. 8.
