GoFrogs: TCU at Baylor Preview

FORT WORTH --
TCU makes the short trek down I-35 to face Baylor on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

ABOUT THE GAME
•The Horned Frogs have won the past four meetings and eight of the last nine in the series.
•Since beginning Big 12 Conference play in 2012, TCU is 9-3 against Baylor with a 5-1 mark in Waco and 4-2 in Fort Worth.
•The Horned Frogs are 3-1 on the road this season with back-to-back wins at Kansas and Utah.
•TCU's Sonny Dykes is 2-0 as a head coach against Baylor.
•TCU tight end Drake Dabney played the previous four years (2020-23) for the Bears. He set a Baylor record for tight end receiving yards with 552 in earning All-Big 12 honors last season. He had a touchdown catch against TCU in 2021.

HORNED FROGS TO WATCH
•Quarterback Josh Hoover ranks fifth in the FBS in passing yards (2,614) while tying for fifth with 37 completions of at least 20 yards.
•Hoover is tied for eighth nationally with 19 touchdown passes. He had three against Texas Tech, including two in the fourth quarter as the Horned Frogs rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit for a 35-34 win.
•Wide receiver Jack Bech ranks among the FBS leaders in receiving yards (7th, 825) and touchdown catches (T-11th, 7).
•Bech's 13 receptions of at least 20 yards tie for eighth in the FBS.
Eric McAlister leads the nation in yards per catch at 24.4 on his 19 receptions. His 84-yard touchdown with 5:10 to play provided the go-ahead score in the 35-34 win versus Texas Tech.
•Wide receiver Savion Williams has led TCU in rushing in each of the last two games with 72 yards against both Utah and Texas Tech.
•The 20.1 receptions per game by TCU wide receivers lead the nation for Power Four Conference programs and rank second in the FBS.
•TCU wide receivers have caught 10 touchdown passes in the red zone, placing third among P4 members and fourth nationally.
•Edge Devean Deal and nose tackle Markis Deal are one of only four sets of brothers to start on defense for an FBS school this season.

BLUEBONNET BATTLE
•Last fall, student government leaders at both TCU and Baylor established the Bluebonnet Battle as the name of the annual rivalry football game between the schools and the creation of a trophy for the winner.
•TCU and Baylor are one of just four protected annual games in the Big 12 scheduling matrix.

SERIES HISTORY
•TCU has a 59-53-7 series lead over Baylor. 4With 119 games played, TCU has faced Baylor more than any opponent in its history.
•The Horned Frogs are 30-24-1 on the road against the Bears and 29-29-4 at home. Both neutral-site meetings saw the teams play to a tie.

FORMER CROSSTOWN RIVALS
•After being founded in 1873 in Thorp Spring, Texas, as AddRan Male and Female College, TCU's campus moved to Waco in 1895.
•The name was changed to AddRan Christian University in 1889 and Texas Christian University in 1902.
•TCU relocated to downtown Fort Worth in 1910 when the Waco facility burned down. The University then opened three new buildings on its present campus in 1911.

BAZOOKA
•TCU last trip to Waco, in 2022, provided one of college football's most memorable games and moments of the season.
•With the final seconds ticking away, TCU's field goal unit ran on the field with Griffin Kell kicking a 40-yard field goal as time expired for a 29-28 win to keep the Horned Frogs undefeated at 11-0. 4TCU's play call for such a moment is Bazooka.

ALL IN
•With the preliminary settlement of the House v. NCAA class-action lawsuit, TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jeremiah Donati has announced that TCU will fully participate at the maximum level in the permissible revenue sharing plan with its student-athletes.

TCU SUPPORT
•Since it began Big 12 play in 2012, TCU has had nearly $500 million in donor-funded athletics facilities upgrades.
•The most recent project is the $52 million Athletics Human Performance Center Renovation and Expansion projects with the four facilities set for completion in July 2025.
•The Mike and Brenda Harrison Football Performance Center will include the Jamal Powell Weight Room, while the Simpson Family Restoration and Wellness Center will make TCU the only school in the country with a Snow Room.
