TCU Announces Football Schedule Changes

Home game with SMU now on Saturday; Portland State kickoff moved to 1 p.m.

FORT WORTH, Texas -- As part of the process of TCU's $143 million stadium renovation, two Horned Frog home football games this season have had schedule changes. The Sept. 24 contest with Portland State has been moved from 6 p.m. to 1 p.m. A Friday, Sept. 30, game with SMU will instead be played on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. and televised on CBS Sports Network.

"The renovation of Amon G. Carter Stadium is ahead of schedule," TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte said. "Because we will still be in the midst of construction, we need to move the games to the daytime to make it easier to manage traffic, parking and movement in and out of the stadium.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We know day games are not ideal for some because of the weather conditions at that time of year. Home night games have always been a popular tradition and gathering place for the TCU and Fort Worth communities. This is all part of the one-year transition phase as we work towards a completely new stadium for the 2012 season.

"It was very important for us to continue to play on campus this season, and we're excited about working towards what we believe will be the finest stadium in the country."

The Rose Bowl champion Horned Frogs report to campus Wednesday for the start of preseason camp. The first practice is Thursday at 4 p.m. The 2011 season opener is Sept. 2 at Baylor. The Friday 7 p.m. contest in Waco will be televised on ESPN.
