FORT WORTH – TCU women's basketball is back in the postseason.

The Horned Frogs received an at-large bid to compete in the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT).

TCU earned a No. 3 seed in the 32-team field and will host North Texas on Thursday in Schollmaier Arena.

The selection signifies TCU's first postseason appearance in five years and 17th all-time. The Horned Frogs have snared nine NCAA Tournament berths and seven WNIT bids in their 47-season history.

The highest-seeded team will host at campus sites through the quarterfinals. TCU will either travel to Starkville to face No. 2 seed Mississippi State or host No. 7 seed Georgia Tech on March 21 in the second round should it defeat North Texas. A potential quarterfinal tilt on March 28 pits TCU against No. 1 seed Penn State or Ball State, Belmont and George Mason.

The WBIT semifinals and championship are held on April 1 and April 3 at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

All WBIT games will air on the ESPN family of networks. Tipoff time and broadcast specifications for TCU's first round game vs. the Mean Green will be announced on Monday.

The Horned Frogs were one of two Big 12 teams to receive WBIT invitations alongside BYU.

Miami, Washington State Villanova and Penn State are the top overall seeds as the first four teams out of the NCAA Tournament.

TCU concluded the 2023-24 season with a 20-11 overall record and tabbed 46th in the final NCAA NET ratings. The Horned Frogs won five of their final seven games to punch their postseason ticket. TCU enjoyed the largest year-over-year win improvement of any Power Six conference program, boosting their win total by 12 games under the direction of first-year head coach Mark Campbell.

The Horned Frogs advanced to consecutive WNIT semifinals in 2018 and 2019 in their most recent postseason appearances. TCU holds a 17-14 combined overall record in postseason play and is 9-1 at home.

North Texas (23-8) shared the American Athletic Conference regular season championship with Tulsa, whom TCU defeated 82-50 on Dec. 1 in Fort Worth.

TCU is 9-14 all-time vs. the Mean Green. The teams last squared off on Dec. 31, 2003, with TCU claiming a 91-53 home decision.
