GoFrogs: TCU’s Rally Falls Short In Season-Opener
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – No. 16 TCU brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the ninth but couldn't rally as it dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 18 Cal State Fullerton Friday afternoon at the MLB4 Tournament. Jake Guenther registered three hits in his TCU debut.

The Rundown
Cal State Fullerton jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a solo home run from Daniel Cope in the second inning.

TCU threatened in the third to get the game tied. Back-to-back hits from Andrew Keefer and Bobby Goodloe had runners on the corners with one out. Titan starter Tanner Bibee (1-0) wiggled off the hook without allowing a run.

A lead-off single in the third for Fullerton turned into the Titans' second run of the game. Sahid Valenzuela's two-out single drove in the run.

The Horned Frogs produced lots of traffic on the bases with a runner on in every inning except for the first two, but on four occasions, TCU left two men on in a frame.

TCU put together a two-out rally in the ninth on an Alex Isola base hit and a walk to Josh Watson. Austin Henry's bid for a game-tying double was tracked down on the warning track in right center to end the game.

The combination of Nick Lodolo (0-1) and Charles King held the Titans to just three base runners over the final five innings. Lodolo retired the last seven batters he faced. He allowed just two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out two. King worked out of a one-out jam that had two Titans in scoring position in the eighth. He finished with a trio of strikeouts in his three innings of work.

Stat of the Game
12 – TCU left 12 baserunners on in the game. Eight of the 12 runners were in scoring position.

Didn't get to listen or follow but sounds like we had chances but couldn't get the timely hits needed, and CS-F pitching was good as expected. Looks like the new 1B has a bat. Let's beat Virginia tonight.
