GoFrogs: Starters Lead Horned Frogs to 10-Point Win Over Cyclones
FORT WORTH – All five TCU starters scored in double-figures as the Horned Frogs picked up a Big 12 Conference home win over the Iowa State Cyclones, 82-72, Sunday afternoon at Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena.

The Horned Frogs moved to 18-5 overall and continue to hold onto their grip of second-place in the league standings with a mark of 9-3. The Cyclones snapped a three-game winning streak and fell to 15-9 overall and 7-6 in the conference.

THE RUNDOWN
Lauren Heard registered her fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 boards, and the four remaining starters all scored at least 12 points each. Jayde Woods followed with 17 points, while Adeola Akomolafe, Kianna Ray and Jaycee Bradley all chipped in with 12 points each.

Heard notched her 10th 20-point effort on the season and Woods totaled 15 points or more for the sixth time.

The Horned Frogs gave up a season-most 14 three-pointers, but out-rebounded the Cyclones (39-37), registered 12 steals and forced 16 turnovers on the day.

TCU was clutch at the free throw line, as well, converting 12 of its 15 attempts. On the other side of the court, the Horned Frogs limited ISU to just nine free throw attempts on the day. The Cyclones came into the game averaging nearly 21 free throw attempts.

The Horned Frogs opened the game with an 8-0 run, but the Cyclones outscored TCU 17-8 the rest of the way to take a 17-16 lead into the second quarter. TCU bounced back scoring nine of the game's next 11 points and then ended the first half with a 5-3 run to take a 36-29 lead into the break.

Akomolafe, who scored six points in the first half, looked to have put TCU on top 38-29 as both teams headed into the locker rooms, but the buzzer-beating shot was waved off and TCU settled for a 7-point advantage at the break.

Five of ISU's eight field goals made in the third quarter came from beyond the three-point line, but a 12-0 run early in the period prove to be key for the Frogs, who took a 57-52 lead into the fourth quarter.

Bradley drained back-to-back three-pointers, capping off a 10-4 run to open the final frame. That would turn into the first of three different 11-point leads and the closest the Cyclones came down the stretch was trailing by six points, 73-67, with 2:24 left to play.

Woods scored TCU's next five points and Heard drained all four of her free throw attempts in the final minute to secure the victory.

QUOTABLE
"This was a great win for this team," said head coach Raegan Pebley. "Coming out of [the loss at] Baylor, they responded the right way. They responded with maturity, being connected, working for that and not taking it for granted. The way we started quarters was really important. Especially the opening of the game and the second half. It was a physical game and that is okay. This is Division I, Big 12 basketball, and I thought our team handled that really well.

UP NEXT
The Horned Frogs will take their 5-1 Big 12 road record to Manhattan, Kan., to face the Kansas State Wildcats next Wednesday, Feb. 19. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. at Bramiage Coliseum.
