Sept. 12, 2014 Final Stats

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The TCU women's soccer team stretched its winning streak to three matches with a 1-0 win at Texas State Friday night. Michelle Prokof's third straight game-winning goal helped Vittoria Arnold notch her third consecutive shutout.

"We are very happy with the result tonight," said head coach Eric Bell. "Coming in tonight, playing in a tough place with difficult weather conditions in a hostile environment, we were able to find a way to win against a pretty experienced group."

Arnold made five saves in the match with four coming in the second half en route to her fourth shutout of the season. Her shutout streak has reached 325 minutes dating back to the match against UCF on Aug. 31.

"Right now we are forcing teams to break us down, which has been difficult to do," said Bell. "Our back line has been a brick wall back there in front of Vittoria (Arnold)."

TCU wasted little time pushing the attack as Emma Heckendorn fired off a shot wide of the goal just a minute into the match. The Frogs continued to push the attack, keeping the ball in the offensive zone.

The Frogs early pressure paid off when Texas State was whistled for a foul in the penalty box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Horned Frogs. Prokof took the shot for the Frogs and beat the Bobcat goalkeeper low to put the Frogs up 1-0 11 minutes into the match.

TCU wasn't satisfied with the lead as it continued to push the action. Two minutes after the goal, the Frogs earned back-to-back corner kicks, but couldn't capitalize as Heckendorn's header sailed high.

Texas State found its game in the later part of the half as it fired off four shots in a row. Arnold made the only save she needed to in the half on a shot from distance. The Frogs fought off a late corner as Ali Myers' shot was blocked out of danger by the TCU defense.

The Bobcats came out of halftime firing as they tested Arnold twice in the first six minutes of the second half.

The Frogs turned the tables and pushed the attack down field and earned a corner in the 56th minute. Prokof's feed was on target, but Bobbi Clemmer's shot was saved by Bobcat keeper Caitlynn Rinehart.

TCU kept the pressure on as it searched for the insurance goal. Patry Carrion's bid was blocked in the 62nd minute, while Prokof sailed her shot high over the crossbar. Meghan Murphy's header off a corner kick feed form Carrion was corralled by the Texas State goalkeeper.

With 10 minutes left in the match, Texas State put together its best flourish of the game and Arnold had to stand tall in goal to keep the shutout in tact. A foul by the Frogs gave the Bobcats a free kick from about 30 yards out. Kristen Champion's shot was blocked out of danger by Arnold, setting up a corner kick. Brooke Ramsey's feed was on target, but Arnold was there to stop Ali Jones in the 89th minute.

TCU improves to 4-3 overall on the season. The mini road trip concludes Sunday night at Sam Houston State. First touch is at 6:30 p.m.
