GoFrogs: Soccer Trio Earn Weekly Awards

FORT WORTH –
A trio of women's soccer players have earned league and national recognition after guiding TCU to a pair of road victories last week. Brenna Brosam was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week, while Brandi Peterson was selected as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row and Lauren Kellett was named the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week. The weekly honor is the fourth for Peterson this season and the first for Kellett.

Brosam started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win against West Virginia, and played 81 in a 3-0 win on Sunday over Iowa State. She helped limit the Mountaineers to just eight total shots, four of which were on goal. Iowa State registered just five shots and only one on goal.

Peterson aided TCU in road shutouts at No. 21 West Virginia and Iowa State. The Mountaineers did not register a shot after TCU took the lead in the 77th minute and were limited to just eight shots. Peterson also recorded her second goal of the season to close out the first half against the Cyclones. Iowa State had five shots in the match, only one on goal, and was not allowed any corner kicks.

In 351:42 minutes spanning four-plus games, Kellett has not allowed a goal. The sophomore played all but 12 minutes between the posts last week in shutouts over the Mountaineers and Cyclones. She made two saves in each half at West Virginia to help lead the Frogs to their first-ever win in Morgantown. Kellett faced just one shot on goal against Iowa State, but cut off numerous crossing passes to prevent shots on goal from the Cyclones.

TCU (13-2-1) rose to No. 7 nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com. The Horned Frogs close out the home schedule Friday night against Kansas State.

Honored previously this season were Messiah Bright (Offensive Player of the Week, Sept. 14), Gracie Brian (Offensive Player of the Week, Aug. 23), Brandi Peterson (Defensive Player of the Week, Aug. 23, Sept. 7 and Oct. 11) and Grace Collins (Offensive Player of the Week, Sept. 7).
