GoFrogs: Soccer Trio Earn All-Midwest Region Honors

FORT WORTH – A trio of TCU women's soccer players were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as All-Midwest Region performers. Yazmeen Ryan(1st-team) and Karitas Tomasdottir (3rd-team) were named All-Region athletes for the second straight season.

Joining Ryan and Tomasdottir was freshman Messiah Bright who was selected to the second team. TCU tied for third in the Big 12 with three selections. Ryan is TCU's second-ever 1st-team honoree, joining Ryan Williams from 2017.

Ryan finished tied for second on the team with a total of 13 points on the year. She tallied five goals and contributed three assists in her sophomore campaign. Of her five goals, four stood up as game-winning goals. Ryan, who started 13 of 17 games played, earned 1st-team All-Big 12 honors.

Bright made history as the first Horned Frog to win a share of Freshman of the Year. The forward tied for first on the team in goals (six) and tied for second on the team lead in points (13). Three of her were game-winners. She was named 2nd-team All-Big 12 in addition to earning a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman squad.

Tomasdottir has started all 21 games this season and ranks third on the team with 1,686 minutes played. She has been on the field for the entirety of nine matches. The senior has pitched in with four assists while helping TCU to a school-record 10 shutouts on the season. She was named 2nd-team All-Big 12.

This marks the second straight season that TCU has had three All-Region honors. The Horned Frogs made history this year, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
