GoFrogs: Short-handed TCU Falls to Oklahoma
FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU dropped its second consecutive home game on Saturday, 71-62, to Oklahoma.

The short-handed Horned Frogs (17-8, 5-7) shot just 35.4 percent from the field, the second lowest of the season, and allowed the Sooners (16-10, 4-9) to shoot 50 percent.

TCU, which was playing without Lat Mayen and Kouat Noi due to injury, jumped out to a 20-12 lead over eight minutes into the game after a JD Miller 3-pointer. Miller finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, his third double-double of the season. Oklahoma responded with a 20-5 run to grab a 32-25 lead with 1:26 remaining in the half. The Sooners took a 32-30 lead at the half.

After making only three 3-pointers in the first half, OU made three treys in the first three minutes of the second half as a part of an 11-2 run to extend its lead to to 43-34 with 17 minutes remaining. TCU trailed 59-49 with 5:16 to play, until six straight points from RJ Nembhard cut it to 59-55 with 4:39 to play.

The Sooners closed out the game by outscoring the Horned Frogs 12-7 over the final 4:39. OU made four of its last five field goal attempts and sunk their last four free-throw tries to seal a 71-62 victory.

Joining Miller in double figures was freshman Kendric Davis, who made the most of his first-career start by scoring 14 points and adding four assists and six steals. Nembhard, a redshirt freshman, scored 12 points and tied a career high with three 3-pointers. TCU finished just 9-of-32 (28.1 percent) from 3-point range.

Alex Robinson also scored in double figures with 10 points and added four assists.

OU was led by Kristian Doolittle who had 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

- TCU dropped to 4-23 all time against Oklahoma, and have lost the last four games to the Sooners.
- TCU had four players score in double-figures for the fourth consecutive game.

- TCU was without Lat Mayen (knee) and its second-leading scorer, Kouat Noi (ankle).
- In his first career start, freshman Kendric Davis finished with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a perfect 2-of-2 from 3-point range.

- TCU wore its purple retro uniforms for the first time.
- TCU shot 35.4 percent from the field, its second-lowest field goal percentage of the season. The lowest percentage came in the first meeting with Oklahoma when the Horned Frogs shot 34.7 percent from the floor in Norman on Jan. 12.
- Desmond Bane, Kevin Samuel, and JD Miller each recorded at least eight rebounds, marking the first time this season the Horned Frogs have had three different players record at least eight - Davis also added a career-high six steals, recording four of them in the first half alone. He became the first Horned Frog to record six steals in a game since Malique Trent had six on March 5, 2016 against Oklahoma.
- JD Miller scored 14 points, moving him to 36th on the all-time TCU scoring list with 1,016 points.
- Miller added 10 rebounds, giving him his third double-double of the season and fourth of his career.
- RJ Nembhard scored 12 points, his fourth double-digit scoring effort of the season. He also tied his career high with three made 3-pointers, last occurring at Kansas on Jan. 9.
- Desmond Bane scored eight points which moves him into 29th place on the all-time TCU scoring list with 1,062 career points.
- Alex Robinson scored 10 points and is now tied with Doug Arnold at 31st place on the scoring list with 1,057 points scored at TCU.
- Kevin Samuel recorded four blocks, giving him multiple blocks in five straight and eight of his last 10 games. Samuel also moved past Karviar Shepherd (49) for the most blocks ever by a TCU freshman with 50 total blocks this season.
