GoFrogs: Rodriguez Earns Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Accolades

FORT WORTH – TCU baseball sophomore pitcher Louis Rodriguez was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Houston on Thursday.

Rodriguez spun eight innings of three-hit, shutout ball, and was the winning pitcher in the 14-1 TCU victory Thursday. The sophomore right-hander struck out a career-high 10 and needed just 89 pitches to navigate eight innings. The Long Beach, California native retired the first 12 batters he faced and allowed just one baserunner through seven innings.

Rodriguez joins Chase Brunson (Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, Feb. 19), Anthony Silva (Big 12 Player of the Week, Feb. 19), Braeden Sloan (Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, March 4) and Payton Tolle (Big 12 Pitcher of the Week; Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, March 25) as TCU honorees this season. Tolle was also named the unanimous National Pitcher of the Week the week of March 25.

TCU (20-7, 5-7 Big 12) returns to action Tuesday night at UT Arlington. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The contest will be televised on ESPN+.
