GoFrogs: Prince Chosen as a Finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award

FORT WORTH – TCU's 2023-24 campaign is barely halfway home, but Sedona Prince may already have authored the greatest season by a center in program history.

Prince was announced as one of 10 finalists for the Lisa Leslie Year Award on Friday. The accolade honors the nation's top center annually. Finalists were voted on by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

She is the first TCU center to ever be in final consideration for the award.

Prince was also named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top-25 Watch List on Jan. 10 and has twice been honored as Big 12 Player of the Week. She is the first TCU post player to twice garner Big 12 Player of the Week credentials.

Originally from Liberty Hill, Texas, Prince has averaged 21.2 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game and generated 10 double-doubles across 15 appearances. She continues to be the only player in the country averaging at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per game. Her blocks per game clip is the fourth-best mark across the D1 ranks. Prince also ranks in the top-15 nationally in points per game and double-doubles.

Prince has missed TCU's last four outings while recovering from a hand injury she sustained in the Horned Frogs' battle at Baylor on Jan. 3. TCU expects Prince to return to the court before the end of the season.

She was the Big 12's active leading scorer and ranked second among her conference peers in rebounds at the time of her injury.

Prince was one of three Big 12 players honored as a Lisa Leslie Award finalist, joining Ayoka Lee (Kansas State) and Taylor Jones (Texas).
