Notes On A Scorecard
TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte discusses the hot topics around the Horned Frogs

WAY TO GO FINNY!
From pitching us to Omaha just a few months ago to now leading the Kansas City Royals to their first playoff win in 29 years, we can't be more proud of Brandon Finnegan! What an absolute winner! He has shown the type of student-athlete head coach Jim Schlossnagle and his staff are producing in our baseball program. If you were watching the game, it was incredible exposure for TCU. Best of luck Brandon as the Royals now advance to the American League Division Series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim!

LT SALUTE

One of TCU's greatest of all-time will be in the house on Saturday! Our own LaDainian Tomlinson is headed to the College Football Hall of Fame this year. It also won't be long before he is in Canton as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Please make sure to stay in your seat at the close of the first quarter at Saturday's football game with Oklahoma. We'll have a special On Campus Salute to LT to commemorate his selection to the College Football Hall of Fame.

TICKET UPDATE
I just checked with our ticket office. We have a scattering of reserved seats, at $75, still available for Saturday's 2:30 p.m. home football game versus Oklahoma. Once those are sold, we will then make Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets available for $55 each.

Basketball season is just around the corner. As a reminder, our Oct. 17 season ticket renewal deadline is approaching. Season-ticket holders this season will have first choice of seats when the new home of TCU basketball opens next year.

ARRIVE EARLY
We are going to have an incredible crowd this Saturday when the No. 3-ranked Oklahoma Sooners come to Amon G. Carter Stadium to face the No. 25 TCU Horned Frogs at 2:30 p.m. To help ensure a positive experience for everyone upon entering the stadium, we ask that you please arrive early. Migrating into the stadium in a timely fashion will help alleviate the long lines you encounter at the gates as kickoff nears.

COLOR BLOCKING THE CARTER
For Saturday's color blocking scheme at Amon G. Carter Stadium, we ask everyone on the east side to wear white and those on the west side to don purple. Your individual tickets this year are marked, based on seat location, with what color to wear each game.

VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE CHANGE
 (IMPORTANT PARKING INFO)
Please note a late schedule change for Saturday's home volleyball match versus Baylor. We're now starting at 11 a.m. and admission is free. The first 1,000 fans receive a free t-shirt. It's the perfect way to start your day at TCU before heading to the 2:30 p.m. football game versus Oklahoma. For those going to volleyball and not having a football parking pass, shuttle parking from McKinney Bible Church on Hulen Street will begin at 9 a.m. Lots around Amon G. Carter Stadium and the University Rec Center will be reserved for football season ticket parking and will open at 9:30 a.m.

HONOR ROLL

Congratulations to football's Trevone Boykin and volleyball's Mattie Burleson! Trevone was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week after totaling 342 yards and six touchdowns in the win at SMU. Mattie is the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. She was instrumental in our Saturday victory over Iowa State.

RANKINGS

It was great to see two of our sports move into the national rankings this week. Football is at No. 25, while rifle has debuted at No. 5 in its preseason poll. We also saw a nice jump in the RPI for our women's soccer program, which is now No. 42 nationally.

ON THE DOCKET
It's another full week of competition for our sports programs. Volleyball is at Oklahoma tonight at 7 in a match that can be seen on FOX Sports Southwest Plus. Women's soccer travels to Baylor on Friday night. Additionally, we'll have several members of our women's tennis program in Waco for the Baylor Invitational. Equestrian is also on the road Friday at Delaware State. Besides volleyball and football both being home Saturday, rifle hosts Army. Men's and women's cross country, men's tennis and both our men's and women's golf programs will all be in competition on the road.

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE

Last Week's Answer: Jeff Daniels, speaking to Keanu Reeves in Speed, said, "Oh come on, thirty more years of this, you get a tiny pension and a cheap gold watch."

This Week: "If they ever try to trace any of those accounts, they're gonna end up chasing a figment of my imagination."

COMPLIANCE CORNER

The Ocean State University softball team is going to participate in an alumni game this fall. The coaches plan to redshirt two of the freshmen student-athletes, so if they participate in this game and no other competition for the remainder of the 2014-15 academic year, can they still receive a redshirt status?

Yes with conditions. NCAA Bylaw 12.8.3.1.4 states that a student-athlete may engage in outside competition in either one alumni game, one fundraising activity or one celebrity sports activity during a season without counting such competition as a season of competition, provided the event is exempted from the institution's maximum number of contests or dates of competition as permitted in the particular sport per Bylaw 17. (Adopted: 1/16/10 effective 8/1/10, Revised: 7/31/14)
