GoFrogs: No. 2 TCU Heads to Big Apple for ITA Indoor National Championships

FORT WORTH - The grand finale of the college indoor tennis season has arrived, and for the sixth consecutive year, TCU will factor into the quest to crown an indoor national champion.

No. 2 TCU arrives in the Big Apple at 6-0 after sweeping No. 13 Michigan 4-0 on Tuesday in Ann Arbor.

The Horned Frogs face No. 15 seed Arizona State at 8 a.m. CT on Friday in the opening round. TCU then draws either No. 7 South Carolina or No. 10 Texas A&M at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday.

If the bracket goes to chalk, a potential semifinal tilt vs. third-ranked Texas on Sunday looms. The Horned Frogs and the Longhorns have a history in the ITA Indoor National Championships. In 2023, TCU defeated Texas 4-0 to win the national championship for the second consecutive year.

The other trio of squads on TCU's side of the 16-team bracket are Michigan, which received the no. 11 seed, No. 6 Wake Forest and No. 14 Arizona.

Each of the 16 participating teams is guaranteed three duals. The two schools that emerge from the weekend gauntlet unscathed earn the right to play for all the marbles in Monday's championship match.

Vives loses to make it 3-2 TCU, but Jirousek is up a set and a break. He'll have a chance to serve it out. Maxted's match is tied in the 3rd.

The Frogs will now leave the USTA Tennis Center and play tomorrow on the Columbia University courts. Virginia and the winner of Ohio State/Harvard will be the first semifinal at 11 am and TCU and the winner of Wake Forest/Arizona follows at 2:30 pm. The final is at 11 am, Monday.
