GoFrogs: TCU Battles Past Tulane

TCU 4, Tulane 3 (PDF)

NEW ORLEANS, La. – A strong showing at the top of the lineup led the No. 13 TCU men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over No. 30 Tulane on Sunday afternoon at the City park Tennis Center in New Orleans, La.

In doubles action, it was courts two and three that got it done for the Horned Frogs (7-3) as the No. 26 pair of Reese Stalder and Bertus Kruger led things off with a 6-3 victory over the Green Wave (4-7) duo. Tulane was able to get the win on court one before Luc Fomba and Sander Jong finished it off with a 6-4 win on court three.

The top three spots in singles action were able to clinch the match for the Frogs as No. 62 Alastair Gray got the first win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 70 Luis Erlenbusch on court two. Senior Reese Stalder followed with a 6-2, 7-6(5) win on court three before No. 6 Alex Rybakov finished things off on court one with a 6-1, 7-6(3) win over No. 88 Ewan Moore.

Quotes from the Match
Head Coach David Roditi
"Today was a tough road win. We knew it was going to take all we had and it did. We had a great performance at the top of singles lineup and a great doubles point especially at No. 3 doubles. Tulane is a very good team. Both teams didn't have a lot of outdoor tennis leading up to this match so it was going to come down to competing and fighting skills. We did a great job at the top to close out matches in two sets.

"I like the fact that different guys are stepping up. We need every player and every coach to continue to improve so we can compete for the Big 12. We are not there yet and we will work hard to give ourselves the best shot. Our volunteer assistant coach Derek (Siddqui) did a superb job with his courts and if we had a "coaching game ball," he would be the recipient. We fly out of here with a very solid road win and now prepare ourselves for another tough road match at USF."
