Horned Frogs Punch Ticket to #ITAIndoors

FORT WORTH, Texas – A solid start in doubles followed by strong singles play led the No. 22 TCU men's tennis team to a commanding 4-0 victory over No. 20 Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend championship match at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.

With the victory by the Horned Frogs (2-1) over the Cowboys (4-1), TCU now advances to the ITA Division I National Men's Team Indoor Championship presented by Oracle for the 14th time in program history and first time since 2016. The event takes place Feb. 15-18 at the Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago, Ill.

The Frogs ran out to early leads on all three doubles courts with each serving for the match at the same time. Reese Stalder and Bertus Kruger finished first on court two with a 6-3 win with Luc Fomba and Sander Jong following just moments later with a 6-3 victory of their own on court three.

TCU continued dominating into singles action as they took the opening sets on five of the six courts. Stalder was able to wrap-up the match on court three first with a 6-3, 6-1 win with No. 65 Kruger getting to the finish line next with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Brady Draheim on court four. No. 14 Alex Rybakov clinched the overall team victory with the senior taking out Artur Dubinski, 6-3, 6-1 on court one to remain undefeated in singles action.

Quotes from the Match
Head Coach David Roditi
"We are obviously very excited to go back to national indoors. It was very important to all our players and coaches to get back to the Sweet 16 of the indoor championship. We had a disappointing loss last week and that helped us be a little extra motivated in practice and see if we could get ourselves to indoors. We are very excited and I have no idea who we will play and it doesn't matter. Today, knowing that Oklahoma State had a long match yesterday and some guys were nicked up a little bit with their best player out, was an opportunity but we knew we still had to go out there and prove it and focus on our match and I thought the guys did a great job of that. They each took care of their match. The doubles set the tone and we fought some really hard and tight moments. That doubles point put us on some very good momentum and winning all those first sets really helped. I hope Oklahoma State gets healthy because they are an unbelievable team and they will be really rough when they get all their players back. This is going to be a great win for us for the rest of the year."
