GoFrogs: Kwong Named Big 12 Diver of the Week
FORT WORTH – Anna Kwong of the TCU swimming and diving team was named the Big 12 Diver of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Wednesday.
Kwong set season-bests in the 1-meter and 3-meter events last weekend against SMU and Arkansas. The senior from Omaha, N.E. won the women's 1-meter event with a score of 334.05, a 27-point gap for the victory. She also performed well in the 3-meter, scoring 341.75 and placing second by less than four points.
In Friday's meet, Kwong was the top point-scoring diver in the Horned Frogs dominant victory over both SMU and Arkansas. She also competed in the women's team event on Saturday, helping them to a TCU school record of 291.45 points.
This marks Anna's eighth Big 12 Diver of the Week honor in her career. She won the accolade twice her freshman year, three times her sophomore year, and once her junior year.
"We are happy with Anna's progress this season," said head diving coach Anthony Crowder. "Her hard work and dedication is paying off with the results we are seeing thus far. A lot of work to do still, but excited for where we are now and where we are going."
Kwong recently earned NCAA elite student-athlete status with a qualifying score on the women's 3m diving event at the 2024 USA Diving Olympic Trials. The senior qualified for the Olympic Trials based on her second-place finish in the 3m dive at Big 12 Championships last February. Kwong finished with a school-record 369.75 points while also medaling in the 1m.
The TCU diving team will be back in action next weekend at the Texas Diving Invitational in Austin. The invitational will take place from Nov. 15-17 hosted by Texas.
