GoFrogs: Horned Frogs Power Past University of North Texas in Opening Round of WBIT
FORT WORTH – A year ago to the date, TCU announced the hire of head coach Mark Campbell. Fast forward 365 days, and the Horned Frogs claimed their first postseason victory in five years.

All five starters scored in double figures as TCU cruised past North Texas 67-58 in the opening round of the inaugural WBIT on Thursday.

TCU shot 53 percent from the floor in a game it led by as many as 19 points in the fourth quarter. The Horned Frogs outscored the Mean Green 43-25 between the second and third frames.

With the win, Horned Frogs (21-11) face No. 2 seed Mississippi State on Sunday in Starkville in the second round.

Sedona Prince sparked TCU past the American Athletic Conference regular season champions, pairing a team-leading 17 points with six rebounds.

TCU scored on its first four possessions and took a 9-3 lead behind six points from Prince. Leading 31-25 out of the locker room, Prince capped an 8-0 run to begin the second half with five unanswered. Prince collected nine of her points in the period, pacing TCU to a 56-41 edge entering the final frame.

Madison Conner kept pace with Prince, scoring 16. She went 3-6 from downtown to boost her season 3-pointer tally to 96. Conner checked in with her deep ball at the six-minute mark of the third quarter and boosted TCU's lead to 48-31. The three also counted as TCU's 300th of the year. The Horned Frogs became just the seventh squad in Big 12 history to knock down 300 threes in a season.

Agnes Emma-Nnopu finished with 13 points while Una Jovanovic and Aaliyah Roberson pitched in 11 and 10, respectively.

Emma-Nnopu and Roberson collected a team-high seven rebounds apiece.

In large part, TCU's defensive prowess was the difference in the game. University of North Texas (23-9) held TCU to one field goal over the final 7:41 of the first quarter and led 18-13 at the 9:50 mark of the second frame.

TCU surrendered just two buckets in the second quarter and separated from University of North Texas for good with an 18-2 run over the ensuing five minutes.

The Horned Frogs held a Mean Green squad that arrived in Fort Worth averaging 75 points per game to 34 percent shooting (22-63) from the field and a 1-8 mark behind the arc.

University of North Texas pivoted to a full court press trailing 63-44 with 5:20 to go. The Horned Frogs committed 10 turnovers in the final frame, enabling a 10-0 run that cut the lead down to single digits and made the final margin appear closer than it was.

The Horned Frogs led for 36:36 in the game.

University of North Texas's Tommis Lampkin led all players with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Lamkin attempted 23 shots.

TCU produced an assist rate of 75 percent or better for the 12th time this season, dishing out 18 dimes against 24 field goals. Conner led all players with five.

It's almost like University of North Texas hadn't scouted the Frogs and seen their weakness against the press (highlighted by WVU). I doubt that will be overlooked by Mississippi State. Frogs have 3 days to figure it out.

I like the concept in this video that focuses less on ball handling and decoding what kind of press you're facing and more on ball fakes and motion to open spots. I'm putting it here because, you know, I'm way smarter than Coach Campbell about these things.

It seems to be working for the team, but still don't understand why he is only playing 6 people every night. Seems like you are going to wear the team down but I'm not a coach, just a guy with an opinion!
