GoFrogs: Heard Named Big 12 WBB Player of the Week
IRVING, Texas – TCU junior Lauren Heard has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Heard is the first TCU player to earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors since Jordan Moore earned the selection on March 4, 2019, last season. Heard is the fourth Horned Frog to earn the honor overall, joining Moore, Zahna Medley and Amy Okonkwo.
Heard averaged a double-double this past week, netting 21.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while helping lead the Horned Frogs to wins over Oklahoma State and Kansas State.
Heard led TCU to the road win at OSU last Wednesday, scoring 25 points with a 14-of-15 effort from the free throw line. She totaled 18 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in the win over K-State on Saturday, collecting her third double-double of the season.
Heard has scored 20+ points in eight games this season, including five games where she has poured in at least 25 points. In Big 12 only games, the Denton, Texas, native ranks third in the league with a 19.2 points per game average, No. 11 overall with 7.1 rebounds and sixth in the conference with 4.6 assists.
Heard shares the honor with Oklahoma's Taylor Robertson as co-player of the week, while Kansas State's Ayoka Lee was tabbed the Freshman of the Week.
Heard and TCU are back in action this Saturday, with a Big 12 road game at Kansas. The Horned Frogs and Jayhawks are set to tip-off at 5 p.m. from Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan.
