LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 9 TCU scored six times in the first inning and never looked back as it stretched its winning streak to 11 straight with a 7-3 win over No. 10 Texas Tech Friday night. The Horned Frogs rode a fantastic outing from Russell Smith to improve to 7-0 in Big 12 play.

The Rundown
Russell Smith (6-1) matched his career-high with seven innings pitched. The lefty allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and fanned 12. He retired the last seven batters he faced , including striking out the final four.

TCU raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first, helped along by a trio of walks. After Luke Boyers and Brayden Taylor walked, Zach Humphreys singled to give the Frogs the 1-0 lead. Gene Wood pushed the lead to two with a groundout to second. A walk to Hunter Wolfe kept the inning alive. Gray Rodgers tripled down the right field line for a 4-0 lead and Phillip Sikes followed with a two-run blast for a 6-0 lead.

The Red Raiders scratched across two runs in the fourth, helped along by two TCU errors. Jace Jung's home run got Texas Tech on the board. Back-to-back two out errors made it a 6-2 ballgame.

TCU took advantage of an error to score an unearned run of its own in the fifth. Rodgers' sacrifice fly drove in Wood for a 7-2 lead.

A lead-off single for Texas Tech in the fifth turned into the final run of the game.

River Riders pitched around a lead-off two base error in the eighth. He fanned two and got a grounder to end the inning. Haylen Green pitched around a lead-off triple, striking out the final three batters to seal the victory.
