FORT WORTH – David Ekdahl of the TCU swimming and diving team was named the Big 12 Co-Diver of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Ekdahl made NCAA Zone cuts on both the 1-meter and 3-meter while helping the Horned Frogs defeat No. 24 ranked SMU last Friday.
This marks Ekdahl's fourth Big 12 weekly honor and the first for him this season.
The senior from Malmo, Sweden finished second on the 1m with a score of 375.60 and third on the 3m with a score of 361.73. Ekdahl was just four points behind first-place finisher Luke Sitz on the 1m.
"David had a couple of outstanding performances on the springboards this week," said head diving coach Anthony Crowder. "It is great to have his presence back on the boards during TCU competitions. We are looking forward to some hark going into mid-season and preparing for a great conference and postseason showing this year."
In the first meet of the season at Texas A&M, Ekdahl finished third on the 3m, scoring 340.90 points. He currently holds the all-time program record in both the 1m and the 3m with scores of 419.80 and 430.20, respectively.
The TCU men's diving team will be back in action on Nov. 15-17 when they travel to the Texas Diving Invitational in Austin.
