Final Stats | Photo Gallery

FORT WORTH – Jake Eissler took over on the mound in the fifth with a runner on first and nobody out. The sophomore promptly retired all 15 batters he faced while striking out a career-high 11 batters as TCU rallied for a 9-5 victory over No. 4 Texas Tech to take the series win.

The Rundown
Jake Eissler (3-1) was brilliant in relief of Haylen Green on Sunday afternoon. He tallied multiple strikeouts in all five innings he pitched including striking out the side in the eighth in picking up the victory.

After a rocky first inning that saw Texas Tech jump out to a 4-0 lead, Green settled down and allowed just a two-out solo home run in the second. He retired seven straight following the home run before departing in the fifth after giving up a lead-off infield single.

Facing a 4-0 deficit, TCU inched its way back into the game over the first three innings of the game before taking the lead for good in the fourth. A bases-loaded ground out from Johnny Rizer in the first made it a 4-1 ballgame.

Josh Jung’s two-out home run in the second restored the Red Raiders four-run cushion, but the Frogs had an answer with three runs in the bottom of the frame. An infield single from Coby Boulware was followed by walks to Connor Wanhanen and Colton Parrish. Josh Watson’s sacrifice fly made it a 5-2 game and a two-out single from A.J. Balta pulled the Frogs within two. Rizer collected his second RBI of the game with a bases-loaded walk to make it a one-run game.

Conner Shepherd completed the comeback with a home run to lead off the third, tying the game at five. Watson’s blast to open the fourth gave the Frogs a lead they would never relinquish. TCU added another run in the inning as Michael Landestoy scored on an errant throw.

The game stayed 7-5 until the seventh when the Frogs struck for two more runs. Four walks in the inning proved costly to the Red Raiders. Balta and Rizer worked the free passes to extend the TCU lead to four, 9-5.
