GoFrogs: Eight Earn All-Big 12 Honors
OKLAHOMA CITY – Eight TCU baseball players were recognized on the Big 12 All-Conference teams as voted upon by the league head coaches. Durbin Feltman was TCU’s lone representative on the first team.
In addition to Feltman, Josh Watson and Nick Lodolo earned second-team all-conference accolades. A.J. Balta and Adam Oviedo were named to the honorable mention team. TCU led the Big 12 with four members of the All-Freshman team. Coby Boulware, Augie Mihlbauer, Oviedo and Caleb Sloan were honored.
Feltman made seven appearances in conference play and recorded three saves. In 8 2/3 innings pitched, the junior allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out 17. On the season, he boasts a 0.40 ERA in 16 appearances with six saves. He’s struck out 39 in 22 1/3 innings pitched.
Watson leads the Frogs’ offense with a .309 average and ranks second on the team with eight home runs to go along with 30 RBIs.
Lodolo leads the team with a 6-4 mark in 14 starts. His 86 strikeouts rank third in the Big 12. He owns a 4.38 ERA in a team-high 72 innings pitched. In league play, he has fanned 49 batters in 43 innings pitched.
Balta, TCU’s leading hitter in conference play with a .325 average, has a team-high 18 RBIs in league. Four of his five home runs on the season have come against league foes. On the year, Balta is hitting .302 with a team-leading 14 doubles and 46 RBIs.
Oviedo has played in 51 games this season. He has tallied five doubles on the season to go along with 22 RBIs. In conference play, Oviedo has driven in 11 runs.
Boulware ranks fourth in the Big 12 with 24 stolen bases. He owns a .277 average with six doubles, one triple and 17 RBIs.
Mihlbauer ranks second on the team with 22 appearances. He is 1-1 on the year with a 1.61 ERA. In 22 1/3 innings pitched, the freshman has fanned 29 and is limiting opponents to a .188 batting average.
Sloan is third on the team with 19 appearances. He is 3-0 with a 4.60 ERA and has 27 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings pitched.
TCU opens play in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday night against Texas Tech. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on FCS.
