Notes On A Scorecard

TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte discusses the hot topics around the Horned Frogs

STADIUM PROGRESS

Amon G. Carter Stadium is rising fast. Much of the new north end zone structure and west side main supports are in place. It's exciting to watch the progress as we ready the stadium for the 2011 season. Make sure to get all the details HERE. In case you haven't seen it yet, we have a great look back at Amon G. Carter Stadium's rich history with the following video: The Momentum is Building Video.

DEADLINE NEARING

We're only 11 days away from the May 15 deadline to renew your football season tickets and parking. Because of our reduced capacity in 2011, heavy demand and a growing wait list, this deadline will need to be strictly enforced. If you have not renewed your season tickets by May 15, we will begin allocating your seats to new season-ticket holders. Our current season-ticket number is close to 3,000 above where we were at this time a year ago.

SPEAKING OF DEADLINES

May 15 is also the deadline to make your $500 per seat down payment on club seats for the 2012 season. We've sold nearly 2,300 club seats and only have a few remaining for purchase. Please contact TCU associate athletics director Davis Babb (d.babb@tcu.edu and 817-257-5658) or the Frog Club office (817-257-7700) if you are interested.

VOTE FOR SUPERFROG

How about SuperFrog and ESPN's College GameDay going hand-in-hand! With your help, we can make that happen and put SuperFrog in a national commercial for ESPN's College GameDay. From Thursday at 6 p.m. CDT to Friday at 4 p.m. CDT, please vote for SuperFrog on ESPN College GameDay's official facebook page (Vote for SuperFrog). Should SuperFrog receive enough votes, he could appear in a commercial for the upcoming football season.

FROM THE LETTERMEN'S ASSOCIATION

The Lettermen's Association will be hosting its End-of-Year Celebration, Cookout and Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 14, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center South Lawn, next to Lupton Stadium. Come celebrate another record-setting year for the Association. This family-friendly day includes a picnic and cookout-style event with food prepared by the world-famous Lettermen's Tailgate Pit. We'll have kid-interactive games, door prizes, TCU baseball tickets and much more. It's simply fun for all ages, decades and sports. A special edition Lettermen's logo t-shirt will be given away to the first 200 who sign up online on the Lettermen's Association website. For more information and to register, please visit The Letterman's Association online or give Greg Blackwell a call at (817) 257-5471.

SHOWING OFF YOUR HORNED FROG PRIDE

Our new TCU specialty license plates are now available HERE. We once again thank the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles for this tremendous exposure opportunity.

THE NEXT LEVEL

Congratulations to Andy Dalton, Marcus Cannon, Jeremy Kerley, Colin Jones and Malcolm Williams on constituting our 2011 National Football League draft class. It's a credit to head coach Gary Patterson, his staff, strength and conditioning coach Don Sommer and his crew as well as everyone in our football program that we have led the state in the most players drafted twice in the last three years. In both cases, we've ranked in the top-10 nationally.

TEXAS SWING

It was great to visit with many of you last Friday at our alumni events in San Antonio and Houston. Jim Christian, Prentice Lewis, Jeff Mittie and Gary Patterson, along with emcee extraordinaire John Denton, were also able to make the trip. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a lot of fun.

THIS WEEK'S DOCKET

Our golf programs both begin key tournaments tomorrow. Two-time reigning Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year Angie Ravaioli-Larkin has her league champions in the postseason for the 16th consecutive year as we take part in the NCAA East Regional in Daytona Beach, Fla. Our men's golf team is in Tucson, Ariz., at the Mountain West Conference Championships, while baseball heads to Stillwater this weekend for a three-game set at Oklahoma State. Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale will be televised on Fox College Sports. Check your local listings for the availability of FCS. It's Channel 623 on DIRECTV.

PACKING THEM IN

Six of our sports (baseball, football, soccer, men's tennis, track and field, volleyball) have had record-breaking attendance totals this season. Our current average of 4,250 in baseball ranks ninth nationally and we still have five home games remaining, beginning Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. versus Baylor. Students continue to play a major role in our atmosphere at the ballpark. Our student attendance is up 20 percent from last year.

COMMUNITY EFFORT

Congratulations to David Roditi, his staff, the student-athletes and the "Keep It In The Purple" Committee for setting a great example on bringing a community into your program. It's a tremendous statement to say nearly 5,000 fans attended home matches this spring with an average of 391 per date. Between the Purple Ballers, Salsa Limon tacos, Mama's Pizza, free clinics, prize court and the competitive tennis, there was always a reason to drop by the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center this spring.

STUDY TIME

Except for construction, it's been a relatively quiet week around the athletics side of campus as we're in the midst of final exams. Commencement ceremonies are on Saturday.

KEEP IN TOUCH

Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback. We welcome all calls and emails.
