GoFrogs: TCU Silenced In Opener At Baylor

WACO, Texas – A four-run fourth inning for Baylor broke the game open and TCU never recovered in a 6-0 loss in the series opener. Austin Boyles was a bright spot for the Horned Frogs with 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He struck out five batters.

The Rundown
Baylor opened the scoring with a run in the first inning. A lead-off single followed by a double had the Bears in business. Nick Lodolo (5-3) limited the damage with a double play ball to end the frame with only one run scoring.

With the bases loaded and two out in the fourth, Nick Loftin singled to make it a 3-0 game. Two batters later, Davis Wendzel singled in two more runs for a 5-0 lead. Caleb Sloan came on and got the final out of the inning.

TCU’s only inning with base runners came in the fifth inning. Zach Humphreys drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a base hit from A.J. Balta. Baylor starter Cody Bradford retired the next two to end the threat.

A solo home run from Shea Langeliers in the fifth gave the Bears a 6-0 lead.

Caleb Sloan worked 1 2/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on three hits. He walked one and struck out two. Boyles closed out the game with 2 2/3 scoreless and hitless frames He walked three and fanned five.

With the loss, TCU drops to 19-15 overall and 6-6 in Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs and the Bears will meet in Game 2 of the series on Saturday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. Sean Wymer will get the start for TCU.
