GoFrogs: TCU Drops Series Finale to Oklahoma
FORT WORTH – No. 12 TCU could not escape an early deficit as Oklahoma completed the sweep, handing the Horned Frogs a 9-4 loss Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Kurtis Byrne and Karson Bowen homered for the Horned Frogs.

The Rundown
Oklahoma took advantage of a lead-off error and turned it into two unearned runs in the first inning.

TCU had chances in three of the first four innings to get back in the game. The lead-off hitter reached in the first and second, but was stranded. A pair of two-out hits in fourth were left on the corners.

The Sooners broke the game open with three runs on four hits in the fourth and a lead-off home run in the fifth, building a 6-0 lead.

The Frog bats finally came to life in the fifth as they cut the deficit in half. Chase Brunson led off the inning with a hit. A walk to Logan Maxwell with two outs kept the inning alive with a walk. Kurtis Byrne launched a three-run shot to left to make it a 6-3 ballgame.

Karson Bowen pulled the Frogs within two, 6-4, with a solo home run in the sixth, but it was not to be. Oklahoma picked up three big insurance runs in the ninth.

Braeden Sloan (3-1) started for the Horned Frogs and allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits. He walked two and struck out three in the loss.

With the loss, TCU falls to 15-5 overall and 1-5 in Big 12 play. TCU will wrap up a four-game homestand on Tuesday night when it hosts UT Arlington. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The contest will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
