LEXINGTON, Ky. – TCU put itself in position to advance through Regionals following its first 18 holes at Keene Trace Golf Club.

The 15th-ranked Horned Frogs are a solo fifth at the NCAA Lexington Regional after carding a four-over 292 on Monday.

Sofia Barroso Sá led TCU with a two-under 70 and is tied for third.

TCU shot two-over 146 on both the front nine and back nine.

By virtue of earning the No. 3 seed in the 12-team field, TCU drew the first tee times alongside top-seeded Florida State and No. 2 seed USC. The early start forced the Frogs to contend with a steady springtime rainfall.

TCU found itself in the bottom quarter of the leaderboard through the first five holes. The Horned Frogs collected a combined four birdies across holes six through nine to vault into fourth place at the turn. TCU limited its bogey counter to five on the back nine, which were the third fewest of any team.

Florida State holds a seven-stroke lead after shooting a seven-under 281. Just five strokes separate teams two through six on the leaderboard. TCU trails the Trojans by three shots for a share of fourth. Georgia Southern and Kansas State are tied for second at even-par.

Barroso Sá will begin the second round two strokes back of individual leader Mirabel Ting (-4, 68) of Florida State.

The junior willed TCU to stay in contention early on. Barroso Sá birdied four of her first nine holes and briefly held a share of first alongside Ting. She fired a three-under 33 on the front nine.

From Belmonte, Portugal, Barroso Sá scored par-or-better on a tournament-leading 15 holes. She picked up her fifth-and-final birdie of the day on the par-three 14. Her five birdies were tied for the most of any player in the 66-person event.

Monday's showing furthered Barroso Sá's affinity for Keene Trace. She finished even-par (216) on the course in September, helping TCU win the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in its first of three team championships this season.

Not to be outdone, Kirstin Angosta and Camille Min-Gaultier kept TCU's scorecard steady down the stretch. Both players parred the back-nine, with Angosta playing bogey-free. Angosta is tied for 19th at one-over 73 while Min-Gaultier finished one stroke behind her teammate to sit tied for 26th.

Consecutive birdies on seven and eight highlighted Angosta's day. She now sports a 72-hole aggregate score of two-under 286 at Keene Trace. The sophomore finished as the outright runner-up at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in September.

Min-Gaultier was even over her final 13 holes and picked up her lone birdie on 15.

Gracie McGovern finished three-over (75) to join a tie for 31st and give TCU its final countable score. Meagan Winans capped the Frogs showing with a five-over 77 and is tied for 45th.

TCU led the field in par-4 scoring (+3, 4.08) and birdied or parred 70 holes.

The Horned Frogs are hunting their 10th all-time appearance at Nationals. The top-five teams in the 54-hole affair qualify for the NCAA D1 Women's Golf Championship, which takes place from May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
