GoFrogs: Angosta Crowned Big 12 Golfer of the Month
FORT WORTH – It was only a matter of time before Kirstin Angosta was anointed among the Big 12 elite.
That moment arrived on Thursday, as she was crowned Big 12 Golfer of the Month for October.
Angosta is the fifth player in program history to receive the accolade and first Frog to achieve the feat since 2022.
From nearby Coppell High School, Angosta won the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 21 at Kissing Tree Golf Club. She then tied for 17th at the inaugural Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational at a week later. Angosta produced a 70.5 scoring average for the month.
Angosta's victory – the first of her career – in San Marcos lifted TCU to its second team title of 2024-25. She shot a 10-under 206, setting a career low-54 hole record in the process.
The sophomore birdied three of her final four holes, including 18, to take the title by one stroke. TCU was two shots back of the lead with three holes remaining. Angosta's birdies surge propelled TCU to a one-stroke victory over No. 26 Houston at 22-under 842.
Angosta played even-par golf over her final 36 holes at Ridglea Country Club to crack the top-20 of TCU's final fall event. She finished five-over (218). Angosta was one of five players to post a top-20 finish. TCU took a solo fourth at the event.
She achieved a career-high Scoreboard individual ranking of No. 57 following her medal and presently sits at 68th.
Angosta has been among the most consistent players across a loaded Big 12 this fall. She tallied four top-20 finishes across five events, including a solo second at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in September. Angosta turned in four sub-70 scorecards and was par-or-better in nine of her 14 rounds played. She leads TCU in season scoring average (71.9).
TCU begins its spring season south of the border on Jan. 31 at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club in Mexico.
