GoFrogs: 3 Horned Frogs Head to Super Bowl LIII

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Three former TCU standouts will head to Super Bowl LIII as members of the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.

The Horned Frogs will be represented by offensive tackle Marcus Cannon of the Patriots and offensive tackle Joseph Noteboom and linebacker Travin Howard of the Rams.

Cannon, who has started every game he's played the last three seasons, will be making his fifth Super Bowl appearance in his eight seasons with New England. Cannon's five Super Bowl trips are the most in TCU history, breaking the previous mark of four by Kenneth Davis with the Buffalo Bills.

A four-year letterman (2007-10) at TCU, Cannon was a three-time all-conference offensive tackle who earned All-America honors as a senior on the Horned Frogs' Rose Bowl championship team. TCU was 36-3 in his final three seasons. Cannon was also all-conference in track and field, finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 54-10 at the 2009 Mountain West Championships.

Noteboom has seen action in each game as a rookie for the Rams. He started all 40 games his final three seasons at TCU and was honorable-mention All-Big 12 as a senior in 2017. The Plano, Texas, native played his senior year as a graduate student and was a four-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

Howard was a two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection and honorable-mention Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He was also named the Valero Alamo Bowl Defensive Most Valuable Player twice in three years. His team-high 108 stops as a senior made him the first player in TCU history to lead the team in that category in three straight years and to record three consecutive 100-tackle seasons. Howard's 343 career tackles are the most by a player in the 18-season tenure of head coach Gary Patterson.

This will be the ninth Super Bowl in the last 11 years that TCU has had at least one player in the game.Eleven different Horned Frogs have been on Super Bowl teams in that stretch.
