He started out at Prestonwood but he was stuck behind a kid a year ahead of him.

Left there after his freshman year and I guess All Saints was the spot that had the best situation.

Some parents want their kids at a Christian school and if that means a crazy commute so be it; also seen multiple instances where the family will rent or even buy a second residence closer to the school.

If they have the means then more power to them.

Crazier note might be that he transferred to La Tech from ACU....where the stadium is named after his family.

Wow! Thanks for the insight, what a "long strange trip," for him. Hope he heals up and can continue playing.

FIFY. Aaron Beck is the man!

When All Saints moved to TAPPS the recruiting budgets at a lot of schools in their new district must have jumped!

Nolan Catholic, Parish Episcopal, Prestonwood and Plano JPII have all seen their football rosters infused with some crazy talent. Prestonwood was at that level previously and has actually fallen behind in the arms race.

Other schools in that district like TCA (dropped out of the district all together) Argyle Liberty (only beat Bishop Lynch) and Bishop Lynch (lost every game) that don’t have offer the same financial aid packages get run off the field every week.

Midland Christian is the one school that is still competitive without a huge influx of transfers every year; must be that West Texas farmboy strength.

Hell, even Argyle Liberty that was embarrassed in most games has a QB going to Miss St., one of the top safeties in the country and another half dozen or more kids with FBS offers.

The talent level at these schools continues to grow every year.

I've just been happy to see Beck realize his vision after his years of witnessing TVS

It doesn't seem that long ago that All Saints was fielding a 6 man team, and Bishop Lynch was one of the dominant private programs in the metroplex.
Lynch has a resurgence a few years ago and made back to back title game appearances, winning one.

However they fired their coach after the second title game run; not sure why but guessing there had to be some pretty serious behind the scene issues to fire a coach that successful.

The big money booster that had brought in a ton of talent didn’t like that decision so he took his wad of cash, and plethora of talent, to another local private school.

This kind of power dynamic happens all the time at these schools now. It’s the reason I’m guessing it won’t be long until UIL schools aren’t allowed to play TAPPS schools anymore. Many ISD’s have already made this an unofficial rule after seeing kids recruited away.

Impressive story.

son and daughter graduated from acu and daughter knows luke a bit and met april a few times at alumni functions while our daughter was on campus.

our son lives in dallas and the first year he didn't come home for new year's my wife was worried he was not going to have a place to go, be alone, typical mother fears etc... we are talking with him the afternoon of the 31st and he mentions some acu grads are going to get together at the house of some alum that lives just west of him, but he can't remember the name.

the alum, april anthony. she really is a great ambassador for the school.
