Game Day Thoughts.

Hey guys! This post is dated, but here are some thoughts on the Trip from El Paso to Fort Worth for the Houston Game. First TCU home game in 5 years.

  1. The chairs on the bench seat are nice. Definitely recommend if you have never tried them.
  2. Huge water hydration stations are awesome!
  3. Drone show was the favorite thing for my kids.
  4. Frog Alley was enjoyable.
  5. Stadium looks nice and feels big from bottom rows.
  6. I get putting the Houston band in the corner but would prefer them lower. Texas is not here anymore let's bring down the abhorrence.
  7. Wife noticed we (TCU) plays "without team fire/passion." This one scared me as she is not a football fan.
  8. Concession lines are really fast! Great Job here!
  9. Charcuterie at a football game!? Man, times have changed.
  10. Hispanic night was cool. Wife wanted one of the Noche de Rana (I think that was what it said) shirts at the bookstore but they were sold out.
  11. We have a great thing going. Yes, it would have been nice to see TCU win, but we have come a long way as a program and sometimes we need to stop and see how we have grown to motivate us to keep going/growing as a program.
  12. Hopefully Dykes can figure it out, but we need to take action quickly if we determine he cannot. We have built something too great and come too far to sit back and watch it disappear into mediocrity.
  13. Overall, a great experience. Except of course for the actual game.

I agree on the Band. These are college kids. They bust their butts. If your team can’t stand the pressure of the other band…jeez. Putting the opposing band up there is NO CLASS. I as a lifelong fan enjoy hearing the other band. When will the adults stop acting like children?

I bet opposing bands are in the upper corners of the stadium to allow more fans to buy tickets at the lower level...mo' do'...you know....Opposing schools probably pay a discounted price (if any at all) for the seats, no matter where they are assigned, so balance that out with higher-priced lower seats to the more-likely-to-pay more fans....But this year it may not make difference, unfortunately....

OUCH!!!
Regarding the opposing teams bands, it all comes down to money. They used to be in the corner of the northeast endzone. You make alot more season ticket money from those seats than you will 400 level corner endzone seats. It sucks but money rules college football.

The guys reselling those seats make the money. The north endzone is a reseller’s paradise.

Oh I know. I had season tickets in 118 for a few years. Just about every game felt like I was the one at a road game. I hated it over there. But no matter what it gets resold for, a 200 level season ticket costs more than a 400 level season ticket does.

Totally. I've complained before, and will do so again, about the utterly insufferable garbage at college stadiums now that is the jumbotron sound system. Loud music playing non-stop from an hour before kickoff until the game is done.

This is college. Game day entertainment plan should be as follows in this exhaustive list:

1. Ball is in play, watch game.
2. Ball is not in play, home band plays.
3. Home band is done playing, visiting band plays.
4. No band is playing, spirit squads do some stuff and people talk to each other.

We don't have as much money as the Big Ten? Let's make up a few hundred thousand by selling off our stadium speakers on Craigslist and firing anyone in the athletics department with the word "experience" in their job title.

Seemed like there was way less rap blaring between snaps during Houston game than the UCF game. That UCF name was a massive beating with the constant rap crap. Maybe someone at TCU listened to fan complaints.
