The back story

Kelsey Patterson rarely had been around the Texas Christian University campus while growing up in Fort Worth. After graduating from Southwest High School, she left for the University of Texas at Austin and stayed to work for the Longhorn athletic department and then the Southwest Conference. It was when she returned home to take a marketing director's job at the Fort Worth Zoo that she became better acquainted with the Horned Frogs -- and one in particular. She met TCU football coach Gary Patterson through some cross-promotions with the zoo, she says, and the two got to know each other at the coach's radio show early in the 2002 season. They married in February 2004, and now much of her life centers around purple pride. ...

Who would have thought that a UT alum would be the biggest reason CGP has stayed and will possibly stay at TCU for a long time.

I remember sitting behind her at the TCU - Houston game at Robertson stadium, the year that TCU won a shoot-out with the Cougars. She was a nervous wreck the whole game, clearly into every emotion of the game.

She sat in front of us the other night at the Baylor game. Nervous wreck from before kickoff until the end.

Thank God for Kelsey! Great asset for TCU!
