FWST: TCU Horned Frogs deserve No. 1 spot from AP Poll voters

On Monday, the stakes will be even higher, and the impediments to fairness and justice much greater, if as expected AP football poll voters cast most of their first-place votes for the winner of the Auburn-Oregon game, while giving only second-place nods to the undefeated, 13-0 TCU Horned Frogs.

There'll be no appellate court to check and correct their shortsightedness. The [ "illegitimate Baylor boys" ] who created and run the unconscionable, stacked-deck BCS system will go on saying that it works. Even the flawed conventional wisdom that validates the purported superiority of the six conferences that get to make, and benefit from, all the exclusionary rules will live on.

This is so, despite the fact that those Horned Frogs scored a 21-19 Rose Bowl victory over a Wisconsin Badger team that had averaged 67 points a game against its last three opponents in the vaunted Big Ten Conference.

It's not as if evidence to refute the automatic qualifying conferences' supposed superiority is hard to find. It is just that top conference schools and their fans defend the status quo in selfish self-interest. And, most in sports media give credence to subjective hooey and condescending hot air, along with suspect computer rankings that factor those things in. ...

I like it, referring to the game monday night as the "shampionship."

In the end, the pundits will still claim the frogs don't play anyone in-conference and thus, wouldn't have gone undefeated in a BCS conference and thus don't deserve to be #1. There is nothing the Frogs can do otherwise to change those peoples' minds. Whipping Oregon or Auburn wouldn't do it either. They would always have the "regular season schedule is weak" baloney to fall back on.
