FWST: TCU’s Boykin wins Earl Campbell Award as top player from Texas

TYLER -- TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was announced Wednesday night as the recipient of the 2014 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, presented by Earl Campbell.
“I’m honored to present the award to Trevone Boykin,” said former Texas Longhorns and NFL great Campbell, nicknamed the Tyler Rose. “The votes were close because all of these players had an amazing season. We were proud to be able to present the award to Trevone.”
The other four finalists for the award were Baylor senior quarterback Bryce Petty, from Midlothian High School and the 2013 Campbell recipient; Boise State junior running back Jay Ajayi, from Frisco Liberty; Ohio State freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett, from Wichita Falls Rider; and Oklahoma freshman running back Samaje Perine, from Pflugerville Hendrickson. ...
