FWST: SWC Hall of Famers share history lesson

The 2014 Southwest Conference Hall of Fame luncheon at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel on Monday began as a proud celebration of past greats from a bygone era of a now-defunct conference.
It turned into a history lesson of pioneers and trailblazers who broke the color barrier, effected social change and remain inspirations today.
Former TCU and I.M. Terrell great James Cash and legendary Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson were the headliners.
Other inductees included Houston basketball great Otis Birdsong, Texas A&M baseball coach Mark Johnson, SMU swim coach George McMillion, Rice tennis player Harold Solomon, Olympian and Texas swimming legend Jill Sterkel, Baylor running back Walter Abercrombie and Texas Tech tight end Andre Tillman. ...
