FWST: LT’s foundation gives meals to Fort Worth families

Star-Telegram

Outside the stadium where he took handoffs as a star running back for TCU, LaDainian Tomlinson handed off Thanksgiving turkeys Saturday.

Tomlinson’s Touching Lives Foundation joined with Albertsons and volunteers outside Amon G. Carter Stadium to provide 2,100 Thanksgiving meals to local families.

It’s a favorite holiday of LT’s. “It was around the Thanksgiving table that we got a chance to share a lot of stories, love on each other and have fellowship,” Tomlinson said.

Tomlinson and his wife, LaTorsha, come from “close-knit families.” They wanted to help other families enjoy Thanksgiving when they started the foundation in 2003 when LT was a star running back for the San Diego Chargers.

“I think the response in Fort Worth has been amazing,” LaTorsha Tomlinson said. “I think we’re doing some good here.”

Tomlinson will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on Dec. 9. — Mark David Smith
