FWST: Defense lifts TCU by UTA

UT-Arlington designated hitter Greg McCall smashed a bases-loaded, two-out line drive down the first-base line in the third inning Tuesday, and at least two Mavericks seemed destined for home plate.
But before the ball could land somewhere past TCU first baseman Joe Weik, the senior right-hander snagged it to preserve the Frogs' 2-1 lead in a game they would hang on to win 7-3 at Lupton Stadium.
No. 7 TCU then scored two runs in the bottom of the third, including one on a balk, and extended its winning streak to four games. ...
