‘Careless with the ball.’ Turnovers spoil TCU’s upset bid at Kansas

By Drew Davison

LAWRENCE, Kan. – TCU had its chances to make history on Wednesday night.

The 25th-ranked Frogs had the talent and matched up with the No. 7 Kansas Jayhawks in just about every facet.

But, if you’re going to pull off an upset at historic Allen Fieldhouse, you can’t have a season-high in turnovers.

“The ball was sticking,” junior guard Desmond Bane said. “We hadn’t seen pressure like that this year. We were loose with the ball, careless with the ball. There’s no real answer for it. It’s just taking care of the basketball.”

Yeah, amazing as bad as we played overall that we were in that game.

The travel call on Bane late was bogus and dictated the outcome.

ARob could not penetrate and drive so that also hurt.

Need Fisher and Alok back.

Let’s see how the frogs respond at OU. My guess is they will be much better in the TO department. Also keep feeding Samuels down low on the block please, especially if the OU D is locking down at the perimeter and denying ARob on the drives.

Headline says it all-- careless with ball.
But:
KU 20 for 27 free throws, TCU 9 for 13-- more than twice as many attempts for Jayhawks.
KU with only 13 personals called, while Frogs had 18. We all saw KU commit many more.
Miller had an off night shooting, only 1 for 6 playing 25 minutes-- did get 9 rebounds.
Frogs are better than that, so we'll see if they can recover the good game we've seen. Go Frogs!

Hard to compare number of foul shots and call it uneven. They played in the paint a lot more than us and got calls there. We also turned the ball over a ton which often leads to fouling in fast break situations.

The late travel call on Bane is about all you need to know. It was a perfectly legal euro step, plus he got fouled. Instead we get a mickey mouse travel call

We also fouled four times to get them to stop the clock and shoot free throws.
