Almost 600 yards total, 35 first downs. Could have put some more points up. That Bech reverse was horribly played.

Offense is putting up big stats. Morris is still young game experience wise.

Better take SMU seriously.
Yeah, the sequence in the first quarter where the defense held Houston to a field goal after giving up the fifty yard bomb, the offense fumbled and the defense immediately turned it over on downs, then the offense came out and went three-and-out in about twenty seconds was quite frustrating. But the Briles offense is a percentages system. When it doesn't work it's annoying, but in the aggregate it's going to shred a lot of teams.

In all the years of GP's defensive wonder works, until the last few years when he ran out of mojo, how many times did you ever see a TCU defense just lose a game because they were gassed? Waco, 2014 (sorry to bring it up). If we can do that to other teams and get the 3-3-5 working well enough to compliment the scheme, we could do some damage. It's not my preferred style, but it can work. We crushed it last night.

Briles has done well overall. He just needs to figure out to score TDs in the redzone. If he can score TDs instead of turnovers and FGs the offense would look amazing. The three interceptions near the goal line make a huge difference on the season. They were all pre determined stupid quick passes.

OC has done better than DC for sure. Stuff to work out but a lot hinges on Morris playing better and WRs not dropping key passes. If Morris continues to improve and he has and continues the excellent drive extending running plays I think the offense should do well next week!

as mcfroggin pointed out early in the year, the frogs don't have the depth at rb to truly pound away, some drops by the wr's mixed with some missed throws by morris, nichols struggled a few times in pass pro that hurt the offense, really stupid penalty by willis put the offense behind the sticks, and cougs exploited the true freshman who filled in for coleman for a few series

yes the 4th down call wasn't a good one and the execution worse.

yet will all of that the frogs moved the ball for over 500 yards, 35 first downs, and a season low 36 points

Admittedly, a low bar...

Things did tighten up in the 2nd half. The first half sucked in terms of execution, and it would have been a helluva lot closer if the UH had any kind of game. Morris did look much better once he got some kind of groove going. His play had been not good, and there were some fabulous catches which bailed him out. Finally he found rhythm and made some great throws.

groove going,? bailed him out? not been good?

morris was very sharp on the opening series especially the td toss, then things got derailed not by his efforts but nichols getting bulled rushed resulting in the fumble, and some stupid penalties

if morris played against cu the way he did last night the frogs win that game regardless of the defensive issue, but the reality is that you have your mind made up which is really sad because this season is a quarter gone for the most part and there have been some good things beginning to come together

That's what I said.

On edit: Look, we aren't 2013 bad. That was inexcusable. What I have been seeing has been plain bad execution, and no sense from the playcaller of what he is trying to establish. There have been fits and starts, yes, but overall, bleah. And, as stated, things seemed to turn around in the 2nd half last night. Good.

Let's hope they don't un-learn what was figured out during practice this week.
